About Us

I would like to introduce you to “The Handmade Dress” pattern company. We are a home based business that has grown incredibly in the last four years. I’m Samantha Caffee a stay at home, homeschooling, mama to four children, who loves sewing and designing children’s clothing. My husband Ben and I work together, he runs the office and I get to design new patterns. Ben is a firefighter who enjoys working on our small farm here in central Alabama. We have been delighted with the warm welcome that we have received in the last four years, and our hope is that you would like to work with us as well.

I would like to tell you a little about our patterns. All of our patterns are designed with beginners in mind. They are quick and easy two hour projects that can be completed during nap time; this makes our patterns popular with mamas! We know that beginners need projects that have a great result in a short amount of time to build confidence; therefore we leave out any techniques that may seem too tricky or fussy for the new seamstress such as plackets, buttonholes, and zippers. That’s right, not one of our patterns have plackets, buttonholes, or zippers! The adjustable fit of the garments allow for years of use and make them very comfortable for children to wear. Experienced seamstresses who like projects that feel like “instant gratification” love our patterns too, they offer a good basic design that can be easily customized and sewn up in no time! We also offer a wide range of sizes with most patterns going from size 6 months to 12 years.

Our pattern instructions are written with beginners in mind too. The writing style helps many beginners feel as though a girlfriend were sitting next to them helping them along. The steps are broken into short and concise “bite sized” with detailed illustrations. I also include my email address and phone number on each pattern just in case assistance is needed.
